Call on the South African government to commit to a national action plan on gender violence
Campaign member Sonke Gender Justice is joining activists from across South Africa in calls for a national action plan to tackle widespread gender violence.
Every year, there are more than a thousand killings of women by an intimate partner and as many as a million rapes in South Africa. South African civil society members are calling for urgent government action to develop and implement a costed, comprehensive and multi-sectoral national plan to address gender violence. Most importantly, they want to be included in this process!
Last week, more than 35 organizations and thousands of individuals participated in rallies across South Africa, calling for a national action plan!
