The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence uses the 16 days between International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November) and International Human Rights Day (10 December) to reinforce that eliminating all forms of violence against women is a human rights issue and that violence against women is a human rights violation.
Over the next 16 days, we will be posting profiles of our Advisory Committee Members and photos from our #IPLEDGE action to our Facebook page!
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign is a global movement initiated by Campaign Advisory Committee member organization Center for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991. The goal is to raise awareness and take action to stop gender-based violence around the world.
The theme of this year’s 16 Days of Activism is From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Let’s Challenge Militarism and End Violence Against Women! Rape and gender violence is widespread globally and experienced by women during and after conflict. We will highlight the work that our Campaign members are doing to ending rape & gender violence in conflict.
