In March, The International Campaign to Stop Rape & Gender Violence in Conflict brought Campaign Members from across Africa together for an energetic and inspiring regional summit in Nairobi, Kenya.
Summit delegates represented 10 African countries and were joined by Canadian, Croatian and American members. They strategized ways to expand the Campaign in Africa and amplify African voices at the upcoming UK-led Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict.
Campaign members produced a list of actions to protect, prevent and prosecute sexual violence in conflict, emphasizing the need for increased media training for activists and political accountability from governments. They also acted in support of women and peace activists in South Sudan, releasing a statement urging the global community to take immediate steps to end conflict in South Sudan.
